Key milestones for Working Group participation:
Key milestones
1. Confirm eligibility
Refer to the benefits comparison page to learn more about the benefits and privileges available to each membership level.
Review your member account to ensure your company has the appropriate membership benefits to access Working Groups and Committees. Your primary contact can manage your company’s membership level.
2. Discover & join a Working Group
The best way for a company to influence the future direction of Bluetooth® wireless technology is to take an active part in the Working Groups and Committees. For more information regarding groups and how to join them, visit the Knowledge Base.
Joining a Working Group will also add you to a shared mailing list (referred to as a reflector), instantly connecting you with other members in the same group via email. We recommend setting up rules or other filters to help manage Working Group reflector emails.
3. Request access to participate in Working Groups
Working Groups use various applications to communicate, run meetings, and manage specification development and documentation.
Follow the steps below to request access:
- Atlassian access: Learn how to request access here.
- Confluence is the hub for Working Groups and Committees, meeting minutes, helpful project information, and more.
- Jira is used to track specification development, raise errata (report issues) against new or adopted specifications, and manage tasks such as document reviews.
- SharePoint access: Learn how to request access here.
- SharePoint is home to a variety of documents used by Working Groups and Committees including specification drafts, presentations, and more.
4. Join a meeting
Meeting schedules, information, and links to join meetings – both regularly scheduled and ad hoc – are available in the Bluetooth Working Group Calendar.
Members are also welcome to join us in-person during our Bluetooth Member Summits or other events for testing, socializing, and working discussions. Event schedules and registration information can be found on our events page.

Understanding the Working Group roles
The chair of a group or committee schedules meetings, conducts meetings in a fair and impartial manner, prepares meeting agendas and minutes, ensures all Bluetooth SIG policies and procedures are followed in the group, tracks and reports on progress of assigned projects, and fulfills other responsibilities outlined in the Group and Committee Process Document.
The vice chair(s) perform the duties of the chair in the absence of the chair or when assigned or delegated by the chair.
Project managers, who are members of the Bluetooth SIG technical staff (BSTS), support the chair and the group or committee in the performance of their duties. The Bluetooth SIG technical staff performs many other responsibilities to support the development of specifications as outlined in the Specification Management Process Document.
Larger Working Groups may also have work delegated to project leads to conduct meetings and guide the work of one or more specific projects within a Group, and project editors who are delegated to prepare updated drafts of work in progress including proposing resolution of comments made on those drafts.
