Directed forwarding was introduced in version 1.1 of the Bluetooth® Mesh protocol specification. To fully appreciate the capabilities and benefits of directed forwarding, it is necessary to understand some aspects of Bluetooth Mesh version 1.0. This section provides context and background which will support the examination of the directed forwarding feature.
