Certificate-based provisioning was introduced in version 1.1 of the Bluetooth® Mesh protocol specification. To fully appreciate the capabilities and benefits of certificate-based provisioning, it is necessary to understand some aspects of Bluetooth Mesh version 1.0. This section provides context and background which will support the examination of certificate-based provisioning.
