Last month, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), in collaboration with industry players like Telink and Actions, unveiled The Auracast™ Experience at Tech G Shanghai 2023. This event offered an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into innovative audio applications poised to redefine how audio shapes the world around us.

Following the event, I spoke with Y.J. Qi, product director of Actions Technology Co., Ltd., and Eric Liang, director of business development for Telink Semiconductor Co., Ltd., about their experience and their impression on how participants reacted.

A Recap of The Auracast™ Experience at Tech G

How was your company involved in The Auracast™ Experience?

Y.J.: Actions is glad to be one of the collaborators to contribute to the Auracast^TM event. As specifications for Bluetooth LE Audio were completed, we worked on a set of Auracast^TM enabled wireless speakers that can fill the party or venue with sound in every corner. They are based on the Actions ATS283 series Bluetooth^® dual-mode system-on-chip (SoC) IC. This set of wireless speakers also supports switching between different sound sources so users can fully experience audio sharing.

Eric: In this event, Telink contributed Auracast™ transmitter devices, which is based on the Telink TLSR9 series Bluetooth^® dual-mode system-on-chip (SoC) IC. It can connect to various audio source devices through a USB interface and supports flexible audio parameter configurations to transmit diverse Auracast™ broadcast streams.

What most surprised you at The Auracast™ Experience?

Y.J.: This exhibition left a profound impact on me, showcasing remarkable features such as multi-listener music sharing and unmuting public TVs. However, what stood out the most was the seamless interconnectivity between different vendors. Actions, alongside other manufacturers, actively participated in this exhibition, fostering a collaborative environment where devices from diverse brands effortlessly interconnect and operate in harmony.

By leveraging Qualcomm’s or Telink’s transmitter in conjunction with Actions’ receiver, and vice versa, users can experience unparalleled connectivity convenience. Gone are the days of compatibility concerns stemming from variations in SoC platforms across different product brands. This exhibition signifies a significant milestone, as it effectively eliminates the inconveniences that were once commonplace.

Eric: Many times, when discussing new technologies, we often remain at the conceptual level. However, for a new technology that impacts a broad consumer base, what matters most is the firsthand, real-world experience. This event differs from regular static displays; it’s a dynamic, immersive interaction. Through immersive listening experiences in multiple scenarios, participants can tangibly feel the revolutionary audio experience brought by Auracast™ broadcast audio. These scenes fully showcase the unique value of Auracast™ broadcast audio, providing a valuable platform for end users to understand how this new technology will change their lives. There’s nothing more impactful than personal experience, and it makes us eagerly anticipate the widespread adoption of Auracast™ broadcast audio. This is what struck me the most during this event.
