A few months back, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) held The AuracastTM Experience event in Japan at CEATEC 2023, collaborating with several member companies, including Intel Corporation. The Auracast™ Experience, an ongoing global initiative, allows participants experience personal audio sharing, unmuting of public TVs, and the ability to hear our best in public venues via Auracast™ broadcast audio.
For the Japan event, we had the opportunity to interview Mr. Tomoya Ito from Intel Corporation’s Japan technology team. We discussed their involvement in The AuracastTM Experience, their impressions of the event, and the feedback they received from participants.

How was your company involved in The Auracast™ Experience?
Intel already had Bluetooth® LE Audio-compatible products and had conducted a proof of concept (POC) for Auracast™ broadcast audio. Preparations for the practical use of Auracast™ broadcast audio for personal computers are in place. At this stage, we are consistently working towards making Auracast™ broadcast audio a reality for end users.
At The Auracast™ Experience, there were demonstrations involving the use of personal computers, and Intel is promoting Bluetooth LE Audio within the personal computer ecosystem, actively working to facilitate the adoption of Auracast™ broadcast audio as part of LE Audio, collaborating with accessory chip vendors and OS vendors. In the coming year, Intel plans to provide even more demonstrations.
What most surprised you at The Auracast™ Experience?
As a daily Bluetooth audio user, I was surprised by the entirely new use cases introduced during The Auracast™ Experience. From unmuting silent TVs to sharing a movie’s audio, each one was impressive – particularly the ability to synchronize with announcements at airports to ensure that you don’t miss out on important flight information. This allows you to hear announcements even while you’re concentrating on other tasks, which I found extremely convenient. I believe that Auracast™ broadcast audio will bring truly revolutionary new use cases to the personal computer ecosystem.

LE Audio: The Future of Bluetooth® Audio

What feedback did you receive from media, analysts, colleagues, and customers at the event?
There was a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding the experience of a new Bluetooth® feature and all the possibilities that that entails. Everyone who was able to participate is now looking forward to seeing Auracast™ broadcast audio integrated into personal computers and related products, with many people telling us directly that they can’t wait for OSs and accessories to be made Auracast™ compatible.
What do you think people will be most excited about when they experience Auracast™ broadcast audio?
There is an expectation of even higher sound quality and lower latency with Auracast™ broadcast audio.
Bluetooth® audio is already widespread and enjoyed by many people, so the addition of such new features is likely to be greeted with great surprise and anticipation. There is an expectation of even higher sound quality and lower latency with Auracast™ broadcast audio, as well as anticipation for new use cases. Since it enables new user experiences that were not possible before, there is a lot of excitement building.
What are your expectations for the impact of Auracast™ broadcast audio on the audio market?
The new Auracast™ use cases can be expected to elevate the popularity and adoption of Bluetooth® audio to even greater levels. This will significantly boost the Bluetooth audio market, with Bluetooth audio devices associated with personal computers expected to grow right alongside it. We anticipate a growing interest in Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast™ broadcast audio being made available on personal computers.

御社がAuracast™ Experienceにどのように関わられたか、教えてください。
インテルではBluetooth®︎ LE Audioに製品対応しており、すでにAuracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオについても概念実証（Proof of Concept, POC）を実施しています。PCワイヤレスの観点からのAuracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオの実用に向けた準備は整っています。現時点では、エンドユーザーに向けたAuracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオの実用化に継続的に取り組んでいます。
今回のAuracast™ ExperienceではPCを使用したデモもありますが、インテルはPCエコシステムにおいてBluetooth LE Audioの普及を推進しており、Auracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオもLE Audioの新しい機能の一部として、アクセサリーチップベンダー、そしてOSベンダーを含むパートナーと協力しながら普及に努めています。来年にはより多くのユーザー体験をインテルからデモなども通じて提供する予定です。
Auracast™ Experienceで最も驚かれたのはどのような点でしょうか。
個人的にもBluetoothは日常的にオーディオ視聴に活用していますが、今回のAuracast™ Experienceでは全く新しいユースケースが出てきた点に驚いています。無音テレビをミュート解除してオーディオを聴く、またオーディオを友人と共有して映画を見る、といったユースケースのすべてが、私たちにとって印象的でした。特に驚いた点としては、空港での音声アナウンスを同期させて、重要なフライト情報を聞き逃さないというユースケースです。集中して別の作業をしていてもアナウンスを聞けるところに、非常に利便性を感じました。Auracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオはPCのエコシステムに、一種革命的な全く新しいユースケースをもたらすことができると考えています。
Auracast™ Experienceについて、メディアやアナリスト、同僚や顧客の方々からは、どのような反応やフィードバックがありましたか？
