The Hong Sung Man Hearing Aid Audiology and Language Center provides hearing assessments, hearing aid consultations, fittings, and hearing rehabilitation services for children and adults. Led by audiologist Hong Sung Man, the center is dedicated to helping people with hearing loss live more comfortably and communicate more effectively in everyday life. As part of its commitment to improving communication outcomes, the center continually looks for practical ways to enhance listening experiences for clients.

The problem statement

Even after successful hearing aid fittings and hearing rehabilitation, some clients continue to experience difficulty understanding television audio. In the waiting area, the center relied solely on the television’s built-in speakers, which could not always provide a comfortable listening experience for people with hearing loss.

The team also recognized opportunities to provide additional support during consultations. Clear communication is essential when discussing hearing challenges, treatment options, and hearing aid performance, and the center wanted a solution that could further improve listening during these important conversations.

Without a dedicated assistive listening system in place, the center began exploring new technologies that could deliver clearer audio directly to hearing devices.

The Auracast™ solution

Deployment

The need for a more effective audio solution became apparent through daily interactions with clients. After learning about Auracast™ broadcast audio through training provided by GN Hearing Korea, the team identified direct audio streaming as a promising way to address common listening challenges.

The center chose an Auracast™ system because of its ability to stream audio directly to compatible hearing aids and because the technology closely aligned with the needs of its clients. To support television listening in the waiting area, the team installed a Beltone TV Streamer+ connected to the television. In consultation rooms, they deployed the Beltone Multi-Mic+ to enhance communication during appointments.

Installation was completed in-house and proved to be a straightforward process. The devices were easy to set up and integrate into daily operations, allowing the center to quickly begin offering enhanced listening experiences to clients.

Benefits

Since deploying Auracast™ broadcast audio, the center has been able to provide direct television audio streaming in the waiting area while also offering additional listening support during consultations. These improvements have helped create a better listening experience for individuals with hearing loss.

Although the center has not yet collected quantitative performance data or conducted formal customer surveys, staff members report positive experiences using the technology. The Auracast™ solution has enabled the team to better support clients in real-world listening situations and demonstrate the value of direct audio streaming firsthand.

An additional advantage is the ability to showcase how modern hearing technology can improve both entertainment listening and face-to-face communication. By experiencing these benefits in the clinic, clients gain a better understanding of how similar solutions can support them in their everyday lives.

A look ahead

Looking ahead, the center sees continued value in using Auracast™ broadcast audio to support people with hearing loss. The deployment has demonstrated how direct audio streaming can improve access to sound in common listening environments while complementing hearing rehabilitation efforts.

For other facilities considering Auracast™ broadcast audio, Hong recommends first identifying situations where visitors experience listening difficulties and evaluating how direct audio streaming could help. “The technology is straightforward to deploy and offers a practical way to enhance listening accessibility and communication support,” said Hong.
