The center provides patients with a wide range of solutions tailored to their individual needs. While many clients are older adults, Lee notes that hearing loss is increasingly affecting younger individuals as well. This growing diversity of patients reinforces the center’s mission to deliver customized rehabilitation services based on specialized clinical expertise and a commitment to improving communication and hearing outcomes.
The problem statement
Many patients who visit the center experience poor speech recognition and struggle to hear television broadcasts or streamed content clearly, even while wearing hearing aids. Historically, audiologists addressed this challenge by recommending TV connector accessories that transmitted audio directly from a television to compatible hearing aids.
However, demonstrating these solutions during consultations was often time consuming and cumbersome. When a patient wanted to experience the benefits of direct audio streaming, staff members would need to connect a TV connector to a hearing aid and establish the connection before beginning the demonstration. In some cases, the connection process could be unstable, making consultations less efficient.
The center wanted a simpler, more effective way to demonstrate how hearing aids could improve listening experiences, particularly for television viewing and media consumption. Finding a solution that would streamline demonstrations while helping patients better understand the capabilities of modern hearing technology became an important objective.
The Auracast™ solution
Deployment
The center first learned about Auracast™ broadcast audio through a demonstration conducted by a Beltone hearing aid representative from the GN Group. During the demonstration, a TV connector was paired with a hearing aid that supported Auracast™ broadcast audio, showcasing the potential of direct audio streaming.
As Lee gained experience with Auracast™ enabled hearing aids, it became clear that the technology could provide significant benefits for patients. The ability to hear speech more clearly without requiring additional accessories highlighted its potential to improve everyday listening experiences and enhance quality of life.
To establish an Auracast™ environment within the center, the team deployed the GN Group Beltone TV Streamer+. By broadcasting television audio through the Auracast™ system, audiologists could quickly demonstrate real-world listening scenarios during consultations. Patients were able to hear news broadcasts and television programs directly through compatible hearing aids, making it easier to understand how Auracast™ broadcast audio could benefit them in daily life.
Benefits
Since introducing an Auracast™ solution, the center has significantly simplified the process of demonstrating television audio streaming to patients. Rather than manually connecting accessories for every consultation, clinicians can now quickly showcase the listening experience in a more seamless and convenient way.
The improved demonstration process has helped patients better understand the capabilities of modern hearing aids and has contributed to strong customer satisfaction. The center continues to operate existing listening solutions, including TV connectors, while using Auracast™ broadcast audio as a complementary technology that expands listening options for people with hearing loss.
