Resonate Health is a New Zealand-based hearing healthcare provider dedicated to delivering accessible audiology services. The organization offers hearing assessments, hearing device support, rehabilitation, education, and ongoing care for people with hearing loss.

Serving primarily adults with hearing loss, Resonate Health continually evaluates emerging technologies that can improve communication and accessibility for customers. Its mission is to help customers hear more clearly, stay connected, and participate confidently in everyday life.

The problem statement

While one-on-one appointments often work well with traditional communication methods and personal hearing device settings, group environments can present additional challenges. During educational sessions, studio events, or consultations where clinicians move around the room, factors such as distance, room acoustics, background noise, and speaker movement can make it harder for customers to follow conversations.

These challenges can reduce participation and create barriers for people with varying assistive listening needs. Staff may need to repeat information more frequently, and group sessions can become less inclusive when customers struggle to clearly hear and understand speakers throughout the space. Resonate Health needed to improve speech accessibility while maintaining flexibility across its hearing studios.

The Auracast™ solution

Deployment

To address these challenges, Resonate Health deployed an Auracast™ broadcast audio solution using the Audeara audio transceiver and lapel microphone. The all-in-one portable device functions as an Auracast™ transmitter, receiver, and lapel microphone, providing a flexible way to broadcast speech directly to compatible hearing devices and receivers.

Resonate Health selected Auracast™ broadcast audio because it offers a scalable and inclusive approach to communication. Key considerations included ease of use, portability, support for multiple listeners, and the ability to use the same solution across different studio spaces without requiring a complex fixed installation.

Implementation proved to be straightforward. Since the Audeara device is portable, there was no need for extensive cabling, infrastructure changes, or modifications to studio layouts. Staff can simply use the device as a microphone and transmitter, allowing them to move naturally throughout the space while maintaining clear audio access for customers.

Benefits

Since introducing Auracast™ broadcast audio, Resonate Health has gained greater flexibility in appointments and group settings. Staff can use the same portable solution across multiple rooms and event formats, while customers can connect to a shared audio stream that delivers speech more directly to their compatible devices.

Benefits include simpler setup, greater mobility for presenters and clinicians, and a more inclusive listening experience during studio events and educational sessions. Customers have responded positively to having an additional option for accessing speech more clearly, particularly in group environments where communication can be more challenging.

The technology has also created opportunities to introduce customers to emerging Bluetooth® LE Audio and Auracast™ innovations. By experiencing these technologies firsthand in a familiar clinical setting, customers gain a better understanding of how future hearing-accessibility solutions may support communication in a wider range of public and private spaces.

A look ahead

As Resonate Health continues to gather customer and staff feedback, it sees Auracast™ broadcast audio as an important addition to its accessibility toolkit. The solution’s portability and ease of deployment make it well-suited for evolving studio needs, from individual consultations to larger educational events.

Looking ahead, the organization believes Auracast™ broadcast audio can play a valuable role in helping hearing healthcare providers create more inclusive communication environments. By offering a simple and flexible way to improve speech access without significant infrastructure changes, this new Bluetooth feature has the potential to enhance participation, support accessibility, and help more people stay connected.
