To explore how Auracast™ broadcast audio performs across a variety of acoustic conditions, we invited several dozen participants with hearing loss to Japan’s first Auracast™ film screening. We spoke with Ariel Caner, business development manager at Bettear, who provided firsthand insights from the deployment.
One cochlear implant user recently shared their experience using Auracast™ broadcast audio in two public venues, a cinema and a museum.
A real-world Auracast™ experience
The participants mostly used a mix of BYOD Auracast™ enabled hearables, such as hearing aids, earbuds, and headphones. Those who did not have Auracast™ enabled hearables were offered dedicated Auracast™ receivers with wired headphones or neckloops. One of the visitors had a unique experience, using a loaned Auracast™ receiver connected to his current Cochlear Implant processor, he was able to clearly understand dialogue and reported that more than 80 percent of the audio was intelligible in a cinematic environment — an experience he described as highly enjoyable. He noted a clear improvement when listening via Auracast™ broadcast audio compared to using his processor microphone alone, with greater clarity and more consistent speech intelligibility. In fact, he found that listening to an Auracast™ broadcast directly, without blending in ambient microphone input, delivered the best overall experience.
Just as notably, he was able to use Auracast™ audio alongside his processor microphone without any noticeable delay or disruption, similar to his latency experiences with hearing loops, but with improved audio quality. This points to the real-world impact of Auracast™ broadcast audio’s overall performance.
While some softer dialogue and scenes with overlapping sound effects were still more difficult to catch, the listener attributed this to the limitations of his current setup, using intermediary devices rather than direct, native support. He noted that accessing Auracast™ broadcast audio directly would likely further improve clarity, especially in more complex listening conditions.
What this experience shows
Clear improvement in real-world environments
Even in a cinema setting, one of the most challenging listening environments, the user was able to follow the vast majority of dialogue and enjoy the experience. This reflects how Auracast™ broadcast audio is already delivering meaningful, practical benefits.

As native Auracast™ support becomes available in hearing aids and cochlear implants, listeners will be able to access these broadcasts directly, unlocking the full potential of clearer, more consistent sound.

このイベントを設備面で支えたのが、Bettearです。私たちは同社のビジネス開発マネージャーであるAriel Caner氏から、現場での体験者の声についてお話を伺いました。ある人工内耳ユーザーの方は、最近、映画館でのイベントに加え、美術館でもAuracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオを体験したことを話してくれたと言います。本ブログでは、こうした実体験にもとづく体験者の声をご紹介します。
Auracast™体験者の声
映画上映イベントで、多くの参加者が持参していたのは、補聴器、イヤフォン、ヘッドフォンなど自分が所有する多様なAuracast™対応機器です。Auracast™対応機器を持参されなかった方には、主催者側が用意した専用のAuracast™受信機と有線ヘッドフォンまたはネックループを提供しました。
来場者のひとりは、貸し出されたAuracast™受信機を自身の人工内耳プロセッサーに接続するという特別な方法で体験に臨みました。その結果は、非常に楽しい体験ができたと言います。映画館という環境でセリフの80%以上が聞き取れただけでなく、自分のデバイスに搭載されたプロセッサーのマイクだけで聴く場合に比べ、Auracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオを介した音声はより明瞭で安定し、聞き取りやすさが格段に向上した、というのがその感想です。また、周囲のマイク入力を取り入れずにAuracast™ ブロードキャストを直接聴くことが、全体的な体験として最も優れていたと語ってくれました。
この体験者の感想には、注目すべき点がもう一つあります。Auracast™オーディオを、所有するデバイスのプロセッサーのマイクと併用した場合にも、気になる遅延や乱れを感じずに利用できたという点です。ヒアリングループでも遅延は気にならないものの、Auracast™ではより良い音質を楽しめました。こうしたAuracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオの全体的な性能の高さは、実用の場面で大きなインパクトをもたらします。
一方、抑えた声でのセリフや音響効果が重なるシーンでは、やはり聞き取りにくい場面もありました。しかし体験者によると、これは自身のデバイスの現行の設定による限界であり、ネイティブサポートではなく中継デバイスを介した接続であることが影響していると言います。この体験者は、複雑な聴取環境では特に、Auracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオを直接受信することで、音声がよりクリアで、聞き取りやすくなる可能性が高いと語ってくれました。
この体験が示すもの
実際の利用シーンでより良い体験を実現
映画館は、音声の聞き取りが最も難しい環境のひとつです。その映画館においても、ユーザーはセリフの大部分を聞き取り、映画を楽しむことができました。これは、Auracast™ ブロードキャスト オーディオがすでに、ユーザーにとって有意義で実用的なメリットをもたらしていることを示しています。
