Redeemer Fellowship of Edisto Island is a close‑knit community that gathers every Sunday at the Edisto Beach Civic Center auditorium, a shared public venue that hosts a variety of community programs throughout the week. With a mission centered on outreach and inclusion, Redeemer Fellowship places a strong emphasis on ensuring that every attendee can fully engage in worship and community activities.

Many residents are retired, and hearing challenges are common among congregants and community members alike. As a result, clear and accessible audio is essential — not only for worship services, but also for the many fitness and wellness programs that take place in the same space.

The problem statement

Before deploying Auracast™ broadcast audio, Redeemer Fellowship lacked a viable assistive listening system. This gap had a direct impact on members of the congregation with hearing challenges, limiting their ability to clearly hear sermons and participate fully in worship services.

The challenge was compounded by the shared nature of the venue and the need for a solution that could be implemented without extensive infrastructure changes. Traditional assistive listening systems were either unavailable or impractical, leaving the organization searching for an alternative that could meet the needs of its community.

The Auracast™ solution

Deployment

Redeemer Fellowship learned about Auracast™ broadcast audio through social media and was immediately intrigued by its promised ease of deployment and user benefits. After evaluating several transmitter options, the team selected the HomeSpot BA210 V2, which stood out for its accessibility and straightforward installation process.

Deployment exceeded expectations. Having recently transitioned from an analog to a digital mixer, Cameron Andrews, Redeemer Fellowship’s sound system support lead, anticipated weeks of testing and adjustments. Instead, the Auracast™ setup was quick and intuitive, allowing the system to be tested and used with congregants far sooner than expected.

Benefits

Auracast™ broadcast audio has had a positive impact on day‑to‑day operations and the overall worship experience. Congregants who connected to the broadcast reported significant improvements in hearing clarity and comprehension during services. The technology has also been extended beyond Sunday worship.

A second HomeSpot BA210 V2 was deployed to support the Body & Soul and Silver Sneakers exercise programs held in the same auditorium throughout the week. Participants in these classes have praised the ability to clearly hear spoken instructions.

“While only about half of congregants with hearing devices were immediately able to receive the Auracast™ signal, the positive feedback from successful users has reinforced the value of the solution,” said Andrews.

A look ahead

Redeemer Fellowship continues to explore new ways to leverage its Auracast™ solution, including experimenting with its use as an on‑stage monitoring system for the worship team. Beyond internal use, the organization is actively advocating for broader adoption, sharing information through local media, social channels, and community groups.

By encouraging local facilities and government entities to explore Auracast™ broadcast audio for public meetings, Redeemer Fellowship hopes to help create a more accessible and inclusive community. For any group serving individuals faced with hearing challenges, Auracast™ broadcast audio can make a meaningful difference in how people connect, participate, and feel welcomed,” said Andrews.
