The Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Charles seeks to provide a place for everyone, and its emphasis on welcome extends beyond Sunday worship, with opportunities for people to connect with the community in different ways. But for several congregation members, difficulty hearing services and events in the sanctuary had become a barrier to fully enjoying them.
The problem statement
The church previously used a radio-frequency assistive listening system that benefited members of the congregation, but the system was damaged during a storm. The church needed a replacement that could once again help congregation members listen to services.
The church explored installing a hearing loop with Thunder Hearing & Sound. However, the sanctuary presented too many structural obstacles, making that approach impractical. After a church member read about Auracast™ broadcast audio in a newspaper, the church investigated the technology and discovered Thunder Hearing & Sound also offered an Auracast™ solution.
The Auracast™ solution
Deployment
The church selected a Listen Technologies Auri™ Transmitter to replace its previous FM assistive listening system. Several factors shaped that decision, including ease of installation, system quality, user experience, and overall cost. Auracast™ broadcast audio proved to be a strong fit for its sanctuary and listening needs.

Benefits
For members using the new system, one of the most important benefits has been a renewed ability to hear and enjoy church services. The church reports that users are happy with the system and value its ease of use.
More significantly, improved access to sanctuary audio has helped restore a sense of participation. Members told the church that the experience makes them feel a part of the service again. That increased sense of involvement directly addresses the challenge that initially prompted the church to seek a new assistive listening solution.
A look ahead
For this congregation, Auracast™ broadcast audio provided an alternative after its previous FM system was damaged and structural obstacles ruled out a hearing loop. The result is an assistive listening solution that helps congregation members hear services again and participate more fully in the worship experience.
The Congregational United Church of Christ says it would definitely recommend Auracast™ broadcast audio.
