Device forecast
Driven by steady growth across many Bluetooth market segments, Bluetooth® device shipments are projected to surpass 5.3 billion units in 2025 and approach 8 billion by 2029.
Bluetooth® technology continues to evolve to meet the shifting needs of the wireless device market, and shipment trends reflect this evolution across its supported radio types.
Today, Bluetooth Dual-Mode devices remain the dominant radio configuration, particularly in platform devices such as phones, tablets, PCs, and laptops, which together account for about 60% of all Bluetooth Dual-Mode shipments. Shipments of Bluetooth Dual-Mode devices are expected to remain steady, growing at a CAGR of 2% over the next five years.
At the same time, single-mode Bluetooth LE device shipments are experiencing rapid growth, fueled by new use cases across the industries. Emerging applications like smart labels and electronic shelf labels are helping to drive single-mode Bluetooth LE adoption, and the technology’s low power consumption and flexibility continue to unlock new market opportunities for developers. As a result, shipments of single-mode Bluetooth LE devices are projected to grow at a CAGR of 22%. By 2028, single-mode Bluetooth LE shipments are expected to catch up to Bluetooth Dual-Mode volumes.
Meanwhile, single-mode Bluetooth Classic is seeing a decline, with shipments projected to decrease at a CAGR of -14%, reflecting a broader industry shift towards more flexible and energy-efficient Bluetooth LE implementations.
