It’s been almost 20 years since the advent of Bluetooth® technology and since then it has transformed the way we live, work and play. From its roots in audio and consumer electronics, Bluetooth has grown into something much bigger. Yes, Bluetooth started the wearables revolution by making it easy to connect your smart phone to a fitness tracker or smart watch. Yes, Bluetooth brought the smart home of the future that much closer to reality today. And yes, Bluetooth is changing the way we experience the world around us with inexpensive beacons giving us information based on where we are and what we might need at that time. In all these ways and more, Bluetooth has gone from a novelty to something indispensably relevant to everyone’s life. In short, Bluetooth is the technology that’s making the Internet of Things (IoT) accessible to everyone.
And just as Bluetooth® technology is evolving to meet the needs of the future, the Bluetooth brand is evolving along with it. Starting today, you will begin to see an important change in the way we talk about Bluetooth and the imagery we use to express what our brand represents. From the beginning we’ve championed the idea that innovations can accelerate faster, and technologies can reach further if everyone and everything worked together. We stand for collaboration, sharing, innovation and the power of “collective creation.” Our unique approach and position in the industry makes Bluetooth an essential catalyst for the ongoing development of the IoT. You’re going to hear from us regularly on ways to accelerate IoT deployment and how to make it a rich, positive experience for people everywhere.
You’ll also be seeing a new, more vibrant “Bluetooth Blue” in our logo and along with it a new tagline, “unthinkably connected,” which represents the unimaginably possible relationships Bluetooth can create between people and technologies. The new tagline sets an expectation in the mind of the public about what Bluetooth can do to make their lives better. Unthinkably connected symbolizes a brand that makes the unimaginable possible, is ever-present, yet is simple to use without having to consider, wonder or worry about.
And that unthinkably connected world is coming sooner than you think. Because of our foundation as a champion of human innovation, Bluetooth continues to inspire new generations of innovators who are making the world a little bit better and more livable with this remarkable technology. Innovators like Sanjana Shah who is working on a new sensor to alert people to the threat of floods, Josh Kaplan who created a new Bluetooth® keyboard to help the blind, or Rohan Suri who created a Bluetooth application which revolutionizes the way the world tracks the spread of infectious diseases. These are just a few examples of why the unthinkably connected world of the future is going to be a better place and why we’re so excited to be a part of it.
