Bluetooth Low Energy – Revolutionizing the connectivity for IoT

Bluetooth Low Energy – Revolutionizing the connectivity for IoT

Presenter: Jayanth Krishna, Sr. Product Manager, Bluetooth at Silicon Labs

Date: July 17, 2020

Description: As the IoT market continues to grow exponentially, connectivity requirements have also evolved. Multiple market segments like Smart Homes, Consumer, Industrial and Commercial lighting drive diverse needs like power, range, throughput, security on connectivity technologies. These segments also have a multitude of use cases and customers demand ease of use always. Bluetooth Low Energy has successfully addressed most of these requirements and also continues to evolve to address more of the market needs.

Silicon Labs has been a leading provider of Bluetooth Low Energy solutions across different markets for products like door locks, lighting equipment, wearables, smart professional tools and toys. This session will draw from those experiences and the expertise in the technology to articulate how the feature additions across specification versions has been revolutionary to provide secure and reliable connectivity for IoT applications.

Bluetooth for Long-Range Wireless IoT Enablement

Bluetooth for Long-Range Wireless IoT Enablement

Presenter: Jonathan Kaye, Senior Director of Product Management at Laird Technologies

Date: July 17, 2020

Description: Bluetooth is a ubiquitous, global wireless technology that enriches and simplifies a wide variety of everyday interactions between us and our mobile devices. Pretty much everyone uses it from a consumer perspective but its reach and growing use in wireless applications for industrial, commercial and medical industries has been increasing exponentially over the last 5 years. However, Bluetooth still attracts a label as a ‘short range’ wireless technology but since the advent of the Bluetooth 5 in Dec 2016, its actual performance for wide area coverage in harsh RF environments needs to be reassessed. Laird Connectivity, and its global OEM customer base, has integrated Bluetooth 5 Coded PHY capabilities into a wide range of different end products and applications over the last 24 months and this talk will review its capabilities and document real world testing to show its growing dominance as the wireless technology of choice for  IoT sensor enablement.
