Mike Foley, Executive Director
Dr. Michael (Mike) Foley is Executive Director of the Bluetooth SIG. Dr. Foley joined the SIG in March 2004 as the Executive Director. He is responsible for guiding the qualification and interoperability programs, promotion of the technology, the specification publications, and the long-term roadmap of Bluetooth wireless technology.
Dr. Foley previously worked with Bluetooth wireless technology and other wireless technologies as a senior wireless architect with Microsoft. While there, he played a pivotal role in the creation and development of the wireless desktop vision and 802.11. Dr. Foley also helped shape the Bluetooth standard from its inception, as a SIG Board Member, and later Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2003.
Under Dr. Foley's direction, Bluetooth technology has experienced phenomenal growth and consumer acceptance. Since his arrival at the helm of the Bluetooth SIG, he has pushed through an ambitious roadmap, demanding substantial improvements in interoperability and security. Dr. Foley also facilitated and guided the Bluetooth SIG partnership with the WiMedia alliance, solidifying a place for Bluetooth wireless technology in the wireless PAN of the future. In 2007, Dr. Foley was awarded the Telematics Leadership Award for achievements and innovation in the telematics market with Bluetooth wireless technology.
Foley holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, a Masters degree from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
Andy Glass, Chief Technology Officer
Andy Glass is responsible for establishing and driving forward the vision for Bluetooth technology and the Bluetooth Core Specifications. His focus includes profile structure and the long-term direction for Bluetooth high speed and low energy technologies.
Glass brings more than ten years of Bluetooth technology experience to the SIG including early involvement with the technology starting in 2000 when he was a member of the Microsoft Windows Core team working on protocol bus architectures. As the Bluetooth technical program manager for Windows, Glass championed Bluetooth technology both within Microsoft and across the industry, becoming a leading advocate of personal area networking technology. In this position, he led the first two releases of native Windows support for Bluetooth technology and supported the initial development of Microsoft's line of Bluetooth enabled peripherals.
In 2008 Glass left Microsoft to join Mozy, a fast-growing cloud computing venture specializing in secure online backup. As a senior leader for the organization, Glass led a multinational team in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Montreal, Bangalore, and Shanghai focused on making the cloud accessible yet safe for the average consumer.
Glass' previous involvement with the Bluetooth SIG includes four years service as an active member of the Bluetooth Architectural Review Board (BARB). It was during his BARB tenure that the important Bluetooth v1.1 and Bluetooth v1.2 Core Specifications were developed. Glass has also held Microsoft's position in the Bluetooth Qualification Review Board (BQRB) and was instrumental in re-architecting the Bluetooth Qualification program to allow for member self-certification. Glass also served as a member of the Bluetooth SIG Board of Directors from 2003 to 2004.
Glass graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics.
Suke Jawanda, Chief Marketing Officer
Suke Jawanda is responsible for driving the roadmap and market proliferation of Bluetooth technology with the SIG's 14,000 members and continuing to extend the reach of the Bluetooth brand into a variety of new and existing industry and consumer segments. He leads a team responsible for worldwide marketing, product management, business development, membership and account management.
Prior to joining the Bluetooth SIG, Suke worked in EMC's cloud division and its Mozy subsidiary. At Mozy, he was Director of Business and Product Management. He was responsible for developing new cloud-based web, mobile, and sync services for consumer and small business segments sold directly through Mozy and indirectly through Comcast, McAfee, Vodafone, and China Telecom. Prior to Mozy, Suke was responsible for Windows Phone 7 platform planning in Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business. He worked closely with Microsoft engineering and externally with dozens of global operators, OEMs and service providers to create and align product roadmaps.
Prior to Microsoft, Suke was Partner and Vice President at Savatar Consulting (a WPP Group company). As the head of Savatar's Business Strategy Practice, he developed go-to-market and route-to-market strategies for emerging technologies with blue-chip IT, telecom, and software clients including Verizon, AT&T, HP, Microsoft, Cablevision, and Cisco Systems.
Suke received his M.A. from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) and B.B.A. from Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, Canada). Originally from Canada, he currently resides in the Seattle area with his wife and two children. When he is not volunteer coaching or chauffeuring his active kids, he enjoys playing ice hockey and eagerly awaits the day his beloved Vancouver Canucks can hoist the Stanley Cup and Seattle Seahawks capture the Vince Lombardi trophy.
Chuck Sabin, Director of Product Management and Planning
Chuck Sabin is responsible for Product Management and Planning of Bluetooth technology at the Bluetooth SIG. In his role, Sabin is responsible for defining and driving the market and product requirements for Bluetooth technology in new and existing vertical markets and applications.
Sabin has a background in marketing, product management, planning, and business development for enterprise servers, mobile operating systems, mobile devices, and client software and services. He has worked for mobile operators Verizon and Vodafone, launching new mobile phones, data capabilities and value-add services. Before joining the Bluetooth SIG, he worked at EMC Mozy, where he managed the planning and product management of the next wave of cloud services for mobile, web and desktop clients.
Sabin previously worked in various roles at Microsoft, where he managed the remote and mobile capabilities of Exchange Server, built the Exchange Server wireless protocol licensing program for mobile devices and partnered with Mobile Phone OEMs on the commercialization and launch of the Windows Mobile operating system.
He has lived up and down the West Coast of the United States, and is now rooted in Redmond, Washington, where he lives with his wife and three children.
Anders Edlund, Product Management and Planning
Anders Edlund is a senior member of the Bluetooth SIG's product management and planning team for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is also responsible globally for the Health and Wellness, Sports and Fitness, and Smart Home vertical markets. He has devoted the past eight years to Bluetooth wireless technology, first at Swedish telecommunications leader Ericsson and then at the Bluetooth SIG. Over the years, Edlund has become a distinguished spokesperson appearing in hundreds of press articles and TV news stories worldwide.
Edlund joined the Bluetooth SIG in August 2002 with the goal to assure that Bluetooth wireless technology becomes a true global consumer technology. He is responsible for developing the marketing activities as well as making sure that Bluetooth wireless technology is effectively and accurately communicated to its members, influencers, and end users.
Between 1997 and 2002, Edlund worked for Ericsson, where he headed the marketing activities to bring Bluetooth wireless technology to market. In doing so, he played a key role in the formation of the Bluetooth SIG and the development of Bluetooth wireless technology from the beginning. In addition to managing the world-wide registration of the trademark, he built a marketing strategy with convincing user scenarios.
Over the years, Edlund has acquired solid business, product management, and marketing experience. His previous business expertise is in satellite communication and industrial computer science.
Heidy Chow, Senior Member Development & Relations Manager, APAC
Heidy Chow is responsible for developing and managing membership programs and communications in the APAC (Asia Pacific and China) region, ensuring a wide array of programs are successfully executed. She is the first point of contact for APAC members for all inquiries.
Chow joined the Bluetooth SIG in 2005 as Marketing Program Manager for APAC, responsible for all marketing and membership programs and events in the region. In 2007, she moved to the member relations team as Membership Program Manager and focused on APAC membership activities and development. Chow was promoted to Senior Member Relations Manager APAC in 2010 to lead the Asia Pacific team, managing all technical, marketing and member relations programs.
Throughout her years in the Bluetooth SIG, Chow helped expand the Bluetooth SIG's Asia Pacific offices from Hong Kong to Tokyo (2006), Seoul (2007), Taipei (2008) and Beijing (2008).
Prior to joining the Bluetooth SIG, Chow worked for several public relations agencies, including Fleishman-Hillard, Hill & Knowlton and Ascensus Communications. The Bluetooth SIG was one of the clients she served. Chow graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University's School of Communications, with a major in Public Relations & Advertising.
Eric Choi, Technical Marketing Manager, Korea
Eric Choi is the primary point of contact for Bluetooth SIG members in Korea and facilitating connections between SIG members and the Bluetooth SIG global membership committee and SIG working groups.
Choi has performed a key role in the development of Bluetooth technology in the Korean market, working closely with the Korean government to develop future Bluetooth applications and products. The Korean market represents an area of fast growth for Bluetooth wireless technology.
Prior to joining the Bluetooth SIG in 2008, Choi worked for Samsung Electronics and Cisco Systems as a design engineer for GSM, CDMA and W-LAN and was also Technical and Marketing director of Apache Korea, a CSR distributor.
Choi graduated from Incheon University in the Department of Electronic Engineering.
Mike Lu, Technical Marketing Manager, Greater China
Mike Lu is responsible for developing marketing strategy in greater China and executing regional marketing and technical plans there.
Since joining the SIG in June 2008, Lu has promoted Bluetooth specifications and membership tools and provided technical support to SIG members. Through his work with the SIG Qualification Program and Qualification Enforcement Program, Lu has helped enhance Bluetooth product interoperability and ensure protection of Bluetooth trademarks.
Prior to joining the SIG, Lu was a BQB/BQE, Technical Manager for SGS Taiwan, Senior Manager for Lucent Technologies and System Engineer for AT&T Telecommunications. Lu speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Min Nan Hua and holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Tam-Kang University.
Sammy Konishi, Technical Marketing Manager, Japan
Sammy Konishi is the primary point of contact for Bluetooth SIG members in Japan and responsible for communicating with members on specifications, qualification programs, and SIG tools and resources.
Konishi has a key role in maintaining close relationships and communication with organizations in Japan, with the aim of promoting Bluetooth technology.
Konishi has worked with Bluetooth technology since 1999. He previously worked for Harman/Becker Automotive Systems Japan as a Program Manager for connectivity, and as a Project Manager at Fujitsu Electronics Inc.
Konishi speaks fluent Japanese and English, and graduated from Keio University with a Bachelors degree in economics.
