Andy Glass, Chief Technology OfficerAndy Glass, Chief Technology Officer

Andy Glass is responsible for establishing and driving forward the vision for Bluetooth technology and the Bluetooth Core Specifications. His focus includes profile structure and the long-term direction for Bluetooth high speed and low energy technologies.

Glass brings more than ten years of Bluetooth technology experience to the SIG including early involvement with the technology starting in 2000 when he was a member of the Microsoft Windows Core team working on protocol bus architectures. As the Bluetooth technical program manager for Windows, Glass championed Bluetooth technology both within Microsoft and across the industry, becoming a leading advocate of personal area networking technology. In this position, he led the first two releases of native Windows support for Bluetooth technology and supported the initial development of Microsoft's line of Bluetooth enabled peripherals.

In 2008 Glass left Microsoft to join Mozy, a fast-growing cloud computing venture specializing in secure online backup. As a senior leader for the organization, Glass led a multinational team in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Montreal, Bangalore, and Shanghai focused on making the cloud accessible yet safe for the average consumer.

Glass' previous involvement with the Bluetooth SIG includes four years service as an active member of the Bluetooth Architectural Review Board (BARB). It was during his BARB tenure that the important Bluetooth v1.1 and Bluetooth v1.2 Core Specifications were developed. Glass has also held Microsoft's position in the Bluetooth Qualification Review Board (BQRB) and was instrumental in re-architecting the Bluetooth Qualification program to allow for member self-certification. Glass also served as a member of the Bluetooth SIG Board of Directors from 2003 to 2004.

Glass graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics.
