Bluetooth High Speed Technology. It's Bluetooth technology ... faster.
In 2008, at the Mobile World Congress, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group formally announced its intent to harness the speed of 802.11 with an innovative method of radio substitution. This “Alternate MAC/PHY” would allow the well known Bluetooth protocols, profiles, security, and pairing to be used in consumer devices while achieving faster throughput with momentary use of a secondary radio already present in the device.
April 2009, The Bluetooth SIG announced the release of the new Bluetooth high speed specification, Version 3.0 + HS, to enable consumers to take advantage of higher data rates. Download a datasheet for the new specification.
The availability of Bluetooth high speed wireless technology enabled devices is eminent—with powerful connections that are more robust than ever before. Version 3.0 + HS will enhance your device, music, and entertainment bringing wireless experiences that were only imagined to life.
While maintaining the ease of use and quick set-up of classic Bluetooth technology, we’ve injected it with more speed. Experience more…faster.

Improved Security
The Generic Alternate MAC/PHY in Bluetooth high speed enables the radio to discover other high speed devices only when they are needed to transfer your music, pictures or other data. Not only does this optimize power, but it also aides in the security of the radios. |

Enhanced Power Control
Limited drop-outs are now a reality. With the enhanced power control of Bluetooth high speed, you are less likely to lose your headset connection—even when the phone is in your coat pocket or deep inside your purse.
