More than 13,000 companies, along with countless enthusiasts, researchers and inventors, are working today to develop innovative solutions with Bluetooth wireless technology.

The technology community is producing some amazing, unusual, and out-of-this world applications that are making life today not just easier, but also wackier and more fun. Here are some of the coolest Bluetooth wireless technology enabled products and ideas out there today.

BLUETOOTH Enables i.Tech's New Solar Powered Headsets

i.Tech Goes Green With a New Bluetooth Enabled Solar Powered Headset

A unique and “green” use of Bluetooth technology for the hands-free environmentalist, soccer mom, outdoor enthusiast, sun worshiper and urban dweller. i.Tech introduced their SolarVoice 908 as the first solar-powered Bluetooth headset.

Check out the features, specifications and downloads for this impressive device with five hours worth of talk time, and standby time of 140 hours. (That is without sunlight, the manufacturer says it has infinite standby time provided it has some sun.) Of course, the solar-powered cell is just the main feature, as it also has noise reduction for call clarity that employs “advanced digital signal processing software.” It also has multipoint connection to allow the SolarVoice 908 to connect to two cellular phones simultaneously.

Bluetooth technology is helping users “see” underground.

A French project from faberNovel offers a unique, somewhat wacky, but very helpful, use of Bluetooth technology aimed to meet the mobility challenges of the blind, visually impaired, the elderly, tourists and casual travelers.

is a conceptual project that utilizes Bluetooth technology in a guidance system for visually impaired in the “underground” Paris Metro area. It provides users with mobility solution information and assistance suited to public transport networks, which gives them autonomy over their routes known and unknown. It’s a dynamic route guidance service in underground spaces made possible through a network of Bluetooth beacons allowing the user to geotag using his mobile phone with a Bluetooth interface (no other special equipment is needed) and thereby to indicate the route to follow in the corridors and rooms exchanges in the manner of a satellite navigator.
