Eric Choi Appointed as the First Technical Marketing Manager for Korea
Seoul, Korea – 31 January 2008 - The Bluetooth SIG (Bluetooth Special Interest Group), a multinational organization to promote the global short-range wireless standard Bluetooth technology, is to open a Seoul office and start working more closely with members and customers in Korea. The Bluetooth SIG announced today that Seoul office will officially start running from the 2nd of February and has appointed Eric Choi as the first Technical Marketing Manager for the Bluetooth SIG in Korea.
Eric is the primary Bluetooth SIG contact point for Korean member companies and serves as a regional technical marketing connection between regional members and global Bluetooth SIG membership-based committees and working groups. Eric will also work closely with the Korean government and organizations to future develop Bluetooth applications and products. Prior to joining the Bluetooth SIG, Eric worked for Samsung Electronics and Cisco Systems as a design engineer for GSM, CDMA and W-LAN. Eric also knows the Bluetooth market and technology well; he recently worked as a Technical and Marketing director of Apache Korea, a CSR distributor.
“Korea is a very important country as many Korean companies are actively working as members of the Bluetooth SIG and the nation is among the world leaders in the number of Bluetooth enabled devices shipped,” said Dr. Michael Foley, Executive Director of Bluetooth SIG. “We expect Eric Choi’s experience and knowledge on Bluetooth technology and Korea’s IT industry will help Bluetooth technology’s wider adoption in Korea.”
“Bluetooth technology is the most successful short range wireless technology in the world. However, Bluetooth technology enabled devices are not as popular in Korea as in Europe,” said Eric Choi. “By promoting collaboration between Korean members and the Bluetooth SIG, I will focus on raising consumers’ awareness and adoption of Bluetooth technology.”
