Unveiling the First BQTF in China
Beijing, December 5, 2007 – The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced the convening of the 2007 Board of Directors’ meeting to be held in China for the first time. The SIG also announced the State Radio Monitoring Center (SRMC) will become the first accredited Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF) in China. The move demonstrates the organization’s consistent commitment to promoting Bluetooth wireless technology in China and the significance of the mainland market. As an international trade association, the Bluetooth SIG manages the development of Bluetooth standards, provides a process for Bluetooth wireless technology qualification to its members and licenses the use of Bluetooth trademarks.
The Promoter group companies that make up the Board of Directors meeting this week in Beijing, are Ericsson, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba. Their Beijing meeting will include meetings with relevant industry and government organizations suggesting collaboration is highly likely as Bluetooth wireless technology continues to surge worldwide and the Bluetooth technology roadmap becomes reality - including planned ultra-low power Bluetooth technology and high speed Bluetooth technology adaptations.
"As a global technology trade association, the Bluetooth SIG pays close attention to China’s market demands and growing influence, and cooperates with Chinese partners to promote Bluetooth applications within the country. China is a crucial market for promotion and development of Bluetooth wireless technology – and will become more critical as the cost to develop with Bluetooth technology are further reduced, opening up more opportunity to Chinese manufacturers. We have about 500 member companies in China and the number is growing. The Board of Directors’ meeting held in China will provide an opportunity for the Board to better understand how Bluetooth wireless technology is being adapted to Chinese consumer markets and how Chinese companies and government entities are responding to the growing demand," said John R Barr, Chairman of the Bluetooth SIG board of directors.
Bluetooth SIG also announced that SRMC would become the first accredited BQTF in China. According to Yin Jixin, vice director of SRMC, "We are pleased to be the first BQTF accredited by the Bluetooth SIG in China and believe Bluetooth wireless technology will have a compelling future. The verification will ensure that vendor products comply with the Bluetooth specifications and will benefit the development of the technology."
Dr. Michael Foley, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG remarked, "We hope to create more advantages for Bluetooth device manufacturers and developers in China. The accreditation of SRMC as a BQTF will help manufacturers obtain qualification more easily while improving the interoperability of Bluetooth products. I believe that the center will enable Chinese vendors to develop Bluetooth devices more efficiently and to become more competitive in the global Bluetooth market."
